Kelly Wong, PH.D.

Kelly Wong is Vice President and Head of Program Management at Vivace Therapeutics and responsible for non-clinical development of VT3989. Previously, Kelly was a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at Via Nova Therapeutics advancing 4 antiviral programs licensed from Novartis. He also served as the Head of Search and Evaluation at Jazz Pharmaceuticals focusing on oncology and neurology. Prior to Jazz, Dr. Wong was the head of antiviral research at Novartis and had oversight of 20 programs directed against HBV, respiratory viruses, and viruses of the immune compromised. He led a large discovery biology research team, including infectious disease bioinformatics, and built a clinical virology group supporting all phases of pre-clinical, clinical development, and post marketing commitments. Prior to Novartis, Dr. Wong served on core HCV drug discovery and development teams at Gilead Sciences including teams for sofosbuvir, ledipasvir, and velpatasvir, all of which reached subsequent market approval. Kelly completed post-doctoral training at the Whitehead Institute at MIT, received his doctorate in molecular biology from UCLA, and a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology from UC Berkeley.
