Hedy Lee Kindler, MD, Professor of Medicine in the Section of Hematology/Oncology, and Associate Dean for Clinical Science Research at the University of Chicago, is one of the world’s foremost authorities on mesothelioma.
As the Director of the Multidisciplinary Mesothelioma Program at the University of Chicago, Dr. Kindler has extensive experience in the design and leadership of many innovative national and international clinical trials for mesothelioma. She is widely published in the field and lectures frequently around the world.
Dr. Kindler is Past President of the International Mesothelioma Interest Group and the Expert Panel co-chair and lead author of the American Society of Clinical Oncology Clinical Practice Guideline for the Treatment of Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma and the recent Guideline Update.
In recognition of her achievements, Dr. Kindler has been awarded the Dr. Irving Selikoff Lifetime Achievement Award from the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization, the Pioneer Award from the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, and the Wagner Medal from the International Mesothelioma Interest Group.
